The Uruacu meteorite was first recovered in 1992 by a cattleman on a Brazilian ranch owned by Mr. Wilson Rezende. Two more masses were found in 1994 and 1999 by family member Célio Rezende, followed by a fourth find in 2004 by gold prospectors. Since that time more have been found making a total of somewhere between 300 and 500 kg.
