Northwest Africa 2724
Achondrite, Polymict Eucrite
Found 2004
Morocco

A 3804 gram crusted, complete stone was purchased in Erfoud, Morocco in 2004.

Petrography: (J. Wittke and T. Bunch, NAU ) The specimen mostly consists of cumulate basalt clasts that range from coarse grained (~ 2 mm) to very fine-grained (~ 0.1 mm) with less than 5 vol. % of subophitic basalts were observed. Cumulate basaltic clasts are unusually low in ilmenite, chromite, and metal compared with other cumulate eucrites. Composition: Despite the large range in grain size, pyroxene compositions show a rather narrow range: Low-Ca pyroxenes Fs 59.1–62 Wo 3.2–3.8 ; Pigeonite Fs 46.5 – 51 Wo 12,4 – 16.6 ; Ca-rich pyroxenes Fs 40–2.1 Wo 30.5 –40.5 ; Plagioclase An 89.4–92.7 .  Classification: Achondrite (polymict eucrite) with low to medium degree of shock and low degree of weathering.

While the sticker price may be more than you are presently used to, these are super thin slices allowing maximum surface area that account for a cut loss of more than 40%. You get tons of display per gram of material.
