Benguerir
LL6 Amphoterite
Fell November 22, 2004
Benguerir, Sebt de Brikiine, Morocco

After a fireball was witnessed and multiple detonations and sonic booms heard over a reported 50 Km radius, two impact craters measuring 15 and 40cm were discovered in the heavily populated Village of Ben Guerir, Morocco. Another impact site was on a granite bed and left no crater.

Witnesses reported being terrified by the deafening noises, thunder and shaking windows at first, others believed it was a sign divine intervention and that the pieces possess magical powers. In either case, it was swiftly recovered.

Shortly after the fall, the Royal Police were dispatched and began requisitioning the recovered material, ultimately searching door to door demanding any finds. Almost all of the recovered material was surrendered, very few hid pieces knowing what they were.

It has also been reported that finds were divided in the field to profit share in material versus selling it whole and splitting the money. Now, one month after the fall, no whole stones have been reported. Reports have come in that those who have hidden pieces have buried them and, in one reported case, stored in a well. That, coupled with recent rainfall, means there is very, very little fresh material.
